About Practice Partner
Practice Partner is a practice companion for music students. It helps you plan what to work on, then guides you through a focused practice session — with your own music, a built-in metronome, and tools for drilling the passages that need the most attention.
What you can do
- Build a practice plan. Organize pieces, exercises, and activities into a structured routine, and schedule plans on a calendar.
- Practice with guidance. Step through your plan one activity at a time, with a metronome, tempo control, and count-in cues.
- Bring your own music. Load audio from your device, a web link, your Google Drive, or a YouTube video.
- Loop tricky passages. Save sections of a track so you can repeat a hard measure until it is solid.
- Track your progress. Practice Partner remembers your practice history so you can pick up where you left off.
- Record and share. Capture a practice take and, if you choose, upload it to your own YouTube channel.
How Practice Partner uses your Google data
Practice Partner only requests Google data when you choose to use a feature that needs it. Each request is shown to you on Google's consent screen before anything is shared, and access can be withdrawn at any time.
- Signing in with Google
- When you sign in, Practice Partner receives your name, email address, and basic Google profile information. This is used to create and identify your account so your practice library stays synced to you across devices.
- Google Drive
- If you choose to play music stored in Google Drive, Practice Partner
uses the Google Drive per-file scope (
drive.file). This grants access only to the specific files you pick yourself — Practice Partner cannot see any other files in your Drive. Selected files are streamed only for playback during practice. - YouTube
- If you choose to upload a practice recording, Practice Partner uses the
YouTube upload scope (
youtube.upload) to publish that recording to your own YouTube channel. It is used only when you explicitly start an upload, and never to read or modify anything else on your channel.
You can disconnect Google Drive or YouTube at any time from within the app, and you can revoke Practice Partner's access entirely from your Google Account permissions page.
